Rock collection and soil preparation

The Rockaway hydraulic landscape rake works behind a skid steer as the operator drives in reverse, lifting stones and debris into the bucket while loosening and conditioning the soil. Moving forward, the attachment can also push and level small quantities of loose material. Its low profile helps preserve the operator's view of the working area.

Applications include landscape preparation, new lawns, construction cleanup, seedbeds and rock removal. The attachment can be mounted to a compatible existing bucket or supplied with a separate companion bucket; confirm the configuration when ordering.

Models and hydraulic requirements

  • 44-inch model: compact or mini skid steer application; approximately 8 GPM minimum hydraulic flow.
  • 74-inch model: standard skid steer; approximately 12–20 GPM, with 10 GPM stated as minimum.
  • 84-inch model: standard skid steer; approximately 12–20 GPM, with 10 GPM stated as minimum.

The published specification lists operating pressure up to 3,200 PSI for the 74- and 84-inch machines. Confirm exact hydraulic and mounting requirements for the selected model. A three-point tractor option is described for the 74- and 84-inch sizes.

How the Rockaway works

A single hydraulic motor drives a rotor through a guarded No. 80 roller chain. Spiral-mounted hardened Hardox teeth loosen compacted soil, bring rocks toward the center and transfer debris into the bucket. The rotor also helps aerate and level the surface. A typical working pass is approximately three inches deep, depending on soil conditions.

Construction and maintenance

The steel hood protects the rotor while permitting visibility and soil flow. The unit uses two greaseable rotor bearings and one drive chain, limiting routine service points. The description of the heavier-duty configuration includes a larger rotor shaft and bearings, bolted rotor hub, reinforced frame, front push bar, wear runners and a protective rubber flap.

Installation uses two mounting pins and two hydraulic hoses on compatible prepared buckets. The rake can be moved between suitably modified buckets. Hoses and couplers are included in the listed configuration.

Companion bucket and tractor options

The rake and companion bucket should be quoted separately unless a package is specifically confirmed. A bucket is not automatically included. A three-point hitch configuration may be available for tractor use on the larger sizes; confirm lead time and current pricing.

Match the bucket to the material

A solid bucket carries collected rocks and soil together. The optional screening bucket lets loose fines fall back while larger material stays in the bucket. For landscape preparation, specify whether your priority is carrying material away or retaining more reusable soil at the work area.

Send a photo of the carrier attachment interface and existing bucket, with bucket width and auxiliary hydraulic specifications. These details help establish whether to supply a complete package or a rake for a suitably prepared bucket.
